On 20 March 2017, VEAC was requested to conduct a Central West Investigation.  

The investigation covers public land in the vicinity of the Wombat, Wellsford, Mount Cole and Pyrenees Range  forests within the area shown on this map

The purpose of the investigation is to:

a) identify and evaluate the condition, natural and biodiversity values and cultural, social and economic values and the current uses of public land in the specified area; and 

b) make recommendations for the balanced use and appropriate management arrangements to conserve and enhance the natural and cultural values.

The Council is required to consult with relevant Traditional Owner Group entities and other relevant Traditional Owner groups.

Bendigo - Tuesday 18 July between 3pm and 7pm in the Library, 251-259 Hargreaves Street

Beaufort - Wednesday 26 July between 3pm and 7pm at the Football & Netball Club, Goldfields Recreation Reserve, Park Road.

Woodend - Thursday 27 July between 3pm and 7pm at the Community Centre, High Street and Forest Street

Daylesford - Tuesday 1 August between 3pm and 7pm in the Neighbourhood Centre, 13 Camp Road

Avoca - Thursday 3 August between 3pm and 7pm at the Town Hall, corner of Rutherford Street and Cambridge Street

A draft proposals paper and a final report are to be prepared, with the final report due by March 2019.
