Seasonal Road Closures

Many roads and tracks are seasonally closed to vehicle traffic each year. These tracks are closed to vehicles for visitor safety, to maintain water quality and prevent erosion during the wetter months as rain and snow softens the tracks, making them vulnerable to damage.

Seasonal road closures generally operate after the long weekend in June through to the end of October, but may be closed early or extended due to seasonal conditions.

Please be aware that there are early seasonal closures already in place in some areas such as those effected by the bushfires and recent heavy snow falls.

Heavy penalties apply if you drive on seasonal road closures. These roads and tracks may have gates, barriers or signs to identify them but then again they may not so make sure you download the list and maps of the area beingvisited.
